1. What can be listed
AppKade lists working software: web apps, mobile apps, desktop software and online services that people can use or buy today. It also lists AI models and datasets (see AI models and datasets), and source code and businesses for sale (see below). The person submitting the listing must own what they list or be authorised by its owner (see Ownership).
Products only. Every app, model or dataset listing must be one specific product that exists today. A company, agency or freelancer can’t use a listing to advertise itself or its services, such as custom development, consulting or “contact us for a quote” work: list the product you’ve built instead. To sell a whole running business, use a listing for sale.
Each developer can have up to 5 listings on the free plan, drafts included, and up to 2 of them live at once, counting apps, AI models, datasets and listings for sale together.
AppKade does not host downloads, source code or licence keys. Buyers always get the app from your own website, app store page or sales channel.
2. What every listing must include
- An accurate name, tagline and description (at least 50 characters) that explain what the app does, who it is for and any important limitations.
- A category that fits the app.
- A website link on https:// that belongs to you or the app, and works. Demo, purchase and support links are optional, but must work if you add them.
- A pricing model: Free, Freemium, Paid, Subscription or Contact developer. It must match what buyers will find, and paid apps should show their price and terms on your own site.
- A logo and at least one screenshot of the real product (up to 5), as PNG, JPEG or WebP files up to 3 MB each. An app can’t be submitted without a screenshot.
- Your ownership confirmation, given in the listing form.
3. Accuracy and quality
- Screenshots and descriptions must show the app as it is now, not planned features. Label mock-ups clearly as such.
- Do not make claims you cannot support, such as “#1 in Sri Lanka”, “government approved” or “100% secure”, or invent reviews, customer numbers or awards.
- Do not use other companies’ names, logos or trademarks in a way that suggests a connection that does not exist.
- One listing per app. Do not submit the same app twice, or split one app into several listings to take up more space.
- Keep links, screenshots and pricing current. Listings with broken links may be sent back for changes or suspended.
- A starting price must be one a buyer can actually pay, and “Questions and answers” and “What changed” notes must be accurate. They’re checked with the listing like everything else.
- Don’t ask buyers for good reviews, offer anything in return for a review, or review your own or a competitor’s app. See how reviews work.
4. What is not allowed
We will reject or remove listings for:
- pirated, cracked or “nulled” software, or software licences resold without the owner’s authorisation;
- malware, spyware, stalkerware, or apps that collect personal data without telling users;
- tools designed to access accounts or systems without permission, or to evade security controls;
- apps that impersonate another person, business, bank or government body, or are designed to deceive users;
- pyramid schemes, unlicensed financial or investment services, and unlicensed gambling;
- sexually explicit content, content that sexualises minors, or content promoting violence, hatred or discrimination;
- apps whose main purpose is to break Sri Lankan law or infringe others’ rights;
- listings that are really adverts for something other than the app, such as a company or its services, or for a product that doesn’t exist yet;
- listings that contain spam or keyword stuffing.
5. Ownership and intellectual property
You may list only apps you own, or apps you have written permission from the owner to market and distribute. Resellers and agencies must be able to show that permission. You must also have the rights to every logo, screenshot and piece of text in the listing.
Reviewers may ask for evidence, such as the app running on your own domain, a matching app store developer account, or a letter from the owner. A listing may be rejected with the reason “ownership could not be verified” if you cannot provide it.
Rights holders who believe a listing infringes their rights can use our takedown process.
6. How review works
Each submission gets one of three outcomes:
- Approved: the listing, or the update, goes live.
- Changes requested: fix the issue and resubmit the same listing.
- Rejected: the submission cannot be listed. A rejected new listing is closed and its slot is freed; a rejected update leaves your live version unchanged.
The reason we give will be one of these: the demo link doesn’t work, a screenshot or image is broken, the description needs more detail, a claim looks misleading, the pricing needs to be clearer, ownership could not be verified, the content isn’t allowed, a security concern was found, the listing looks like a duplicate, or another reason explained in a note.
7. Source code and businesses for sale
You can also list source code (a codebase, template or licence) or a whole running business for sale. These listings are checked against this policy too, and:
- You must own what you sell. For source code, you hold the rights to sell it. For a business, you own it: if it runs on a domain, you prove you control the domain by adding a DNS record we give you; if it has none, you tell our reviewers how they can confirm your ownership, for example a company registration or a store developer account. Before you submit, you confirm that you own everything included or have the right to sell it. Once a reviewer has checked your ownership, a business listing shows “Ownership checked by AppKade”; until then it shows “Ownership check pending”.
- Confidential businesses. A business without a public domain or linked app can be listed confidentially: buyers see the numbers and description, not the name, website or your profile. Write the title and description so they don’t name the business, and keep identifying details (and logos in screenshots) out of the public listing. Buyers accept our confidentiality terms before making an offer, and you choose who sees the private details.
- No standalone domains. A domain can only be part of a business sale. It can’t be listed on its own. A .lk domain can be part of a business sale, but moving one needs approval from the LK Domain Registry, which AppKade takes no part in. The listing says so.
- No hosted code. AppKade doesn’t host or deliver code. You deliver it to the buyer yourself, by a download link, repository access or however you agree.
- No trademarks or impersonation. Don’t list anything that uses someone else’s brand or trademark, or that you don’t have the right to sell (for example, client work you don’t own, or code under a licence that forbids resale).
- Describe it honestly. Say what’s included, what state it’s in and which licence the buyer gets. Revenue, profit and user numbers are shown as reported by you and not checked by us; don’t overstate them, and keep evidence to share with serious buyers.
- Keep it current. Mark the listing sold once the handover is complete, or withdraw it if you change your mind. Open sale listings count towards your 5 listings on the free plan, and a live one is one of your 2 live listings.
AppKade isn’t part of the sale. You and the buyer agree the price, payment and handover between you, and you’re responsible for the transfer and for any tax or registration that follows from selling a business.
8. AI models and datasets
You can list an AI model (one you trained or fine-tuned, or an API for it) or a dataset. They’re checked against this whole policy, and also:
- No personal data. A dataset, its sample, and anything shipped with a model must not contain personal data: names, phone, NIC or passport numbers, addresses, email addresses, photos of faces, voice recordings, or any text that identifies a person. Anonymise or remove it before listing. We don’t list speech or face datasets for now. Sample files are checked for obvious personal data, such as phone and NIC numbers, when you upload them, and by our reviewers.
- No secrets. Remove API keys, passwords, access tokens and private keys from datasets, samples, model files and their repositories. Samples are checked for common key formats when you upload them.
- Safe model files. Offer Safetensors, GGUF or ONNX files where you can. PyTorch .bin, .pt, .pth and .ckpt files use Python’s pickle format, which can run code on the buyer’s computer when the file is loaded; a model offered only in those formats shows buyers a warning. Never ask buyers to turn off safe loading, and never include code that runs when a model is loaded.
- Your rights. You created it, or you have the right to license it under the terms you state. Don’t list data scraped or copied from websites, apps or publications unless their terms or licence allow it, or model weights you have no right to share.
- Training data and base models. For a model, the data it was trained on must be yours, licensed for that use, or openly licensed. If you built on a base model, name it and its licence: some base model licences restrict commercial use or redistribution, and your licence can’t allow more than theirs does.
- A clear licence. State the licence and whether commercial use is allowed. If you use your own licence, link to its full text from your project page.
- Something to check, free or paid. A dataset needs a sample, uploaded here (CSV, TSV, JSON Lines or JSON, up to 5 MB) or linked, and its number of records. A model needs a demo, or a link to example outputs or a sample.
- Describe it honestly. Say where the data comes from, how it was collected and cleaned, what languages it covers, and any known gaps or biases. Accuracy figures must say how they were measured.
- We don’t host the full files. Buyers get the dataset or model from you: from your Hugging Face, GitHub or Kaggle page, your own site, or however you agree with them. AppKade stores only the sample file.
Rights holders, and people who find their personal data in a listing, can report it with “Report this listing” or our complaints process. We remove listings that break these rules.
9. Live listings
Live listings must keep meeting this policy. If one stops meeting it, or we receive a credible complaint, we may request an update, suspend the listing or archive it, as described in the Developer Agreement. We update this policy from time to time; changes apply to new submissions straight away and to live listings after we have told you about them.
